Lincoln Northwest High School Theatre gained momentum during its second school year, nearly doubling audition numbers for their fall one-act play. Being a new school, the theatre department had not had decades to accumulate a robust stock of costumes, props, and scenery. Still determined to deliver quality production for their students, the LNW Theatre department connected with the Foundation to launch an online crowdfunding "Fund a Need" campaign to secure financial support.
The community gathered to raise nearly $3,500 to support the theatre students. With the money raised, the department was able to purchase building materials for the set, hair and makeup products, shoes, and items like fabric and zippers for costumes.
With the help of added resources and the programs' sheer dedication, Northwest was soaring to impressive heights. Their award-winning performance of Lafayette No. 1 earned them first place in the Class B district one-act competition alongside recognition as "Outstanding Technical Crew." That success brought them to the NSAA State Play Production Championships on December 8th, where they impressively placed fourth to conclude their one-act season.
"The support and generosity of the donors helped set up our one act season for success, as well as the continuation of building our theatre department for years to come at Lincoln Northwest." -Jenna Williamson, Lincoln Northwest Theatre Technician
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lincoln Northwest for their remarkable achievements and cannot wait to help them soar to even greater heights in year three.
