Nixie Luettger

Mickle Middle School
8th Grade
Nominated By: Counselor Madelyn Luxford

Tallulah Luettger and Nixie Luttger were nominated jointly to represent Mickle as their 2023 Inspire Award Winners!

Tallulah and Nixie are 8th grade twins at Mickle Middle School. They joined us in 7th grade  after a tough 6th grade experience. At the end of last year, their mother was diagnosed with an agrressive form of cancer. While experiencing all the normal stressors of being an 8th grade student, they were also worried about their mom, who was going through chemo and other treatments. Both girls were going through this in different ways, but found perseverance to keep going. They are amazing students, never letting their grades fall even though they were going through the unimaginable at home.

What I admire the most about Tallulah and Nixie is that they never stop dreaming of the future and their plans, even with the pressure and anxiety that's going on at home. Both students were interested in focus programs and the IB program at Lincoln High and are waiting to hear back from all the programs they applied to. The girls are the walking definition of "growth mindset" - constantly looking for ways to get better, learn more about the world and improve. They are involved in countless activities outside of school: dance, horseback riding, rock climbing, orchestra (also involved at Mickle), mariachi band, marshal arts and more. They set goals for themselves such as how many books they want to read, healthy diet/exercise, cooking for their family, and water intake. They are truly inspiring to not only students but adults as well! To see their positive attitudes despite the excessive anxiety and worry they have about their mom's treatment plan is why the 8th grade team has come together to nominate Tallulah and Nixie for the inspire award.
