Emily Shanahan
Belmont Elementary
Special Education Teacher
Emily has dedicated her career to Belmont. Her strong dedication to student success, work ethic and ability to stay calm in times of stress are just a few of the characteristics to describe Emily in her 8 years at Belmont. Emily first came to Belmont as a special education para. After earning her teaching certificate, Emily transitioned to a teaching assignment on our special education team. In her current role, Emily leads our student support center. Emily is skilled at developing programming with student success in mind for students with high behavioral needs. She masterfully and intentionally builds relationships with students who don’t always let others in. She is an advocate for her students and takes a personal interest in their success. When there are tough days, Emily leans in and is a visible, friendly, and strong presence. Emily is a person that constantly puts others before herself and can always be counted on to step up when students or staff need support. Emily brings joy and insight with her every single day. Belmont is a better place because of Emily and most importantly, students learn important life skills because of her.
