I am honored to nominate Melissa Sellon for the Inspire Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication, unwavering support, and exceptional service to our school community. As a school counselor who serves not only our building but three others, Melissa consistently goes above and beyond to meet the needs of students and staff alike. 

Melissa is a true advocate for the social-emotional well-being of every individual she interacts with. She teaches essential social-emotional learning (SEL) skills that equip our students with the tools they need to succeed both academically and personally. She collaborates with teachers and seeks out ways to support. Through her lesson and one-on-one support, Melissa helps students build resilience, empathy, and self-awareness-skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. 

One of Melissa's greatest strengths is her ability to listen. She is a phenomenal listener, creating a safe and supportive space allow those to express their concerns, challenges, and successes. She approaches every conversation with care, empathy, and respect, making each person feel heard and valued. 

Melissa tackles challenges with creativity and perseverance, always keeping the best interest of the students and school communities in mind.Whether it's finding resources or helping facilitate communication among staff, Melissa's proactive and solution-oriented approach ensures that every need is addressed. 

Melissa helps foster a strong sense of community within our school. Her positive energy, kindness, and commitment to building relationships contribute to a welcoming environment. She has created a space where individuals feel comfortable seeking guidance, knowing that she will offer not only practical advice but also compassion and understanding.

Melissa's impact is immeasurable. Students trust her, staff appreciate her, and the entire school community is strong with her efforts. She is a true asset to A&H and the surrounding buildings she serves, and it is clear that her work makes a lasting difference in the lives of those she supports.
