Jessica Wehner

Kooser Elementary
School Counselor
Nominated By: Principal Ann Jablonski

Jessica Wehner joined Kooser as school counselor just two years ago. In that time Jessica has made a tremendous impact on students as she works to support their social and emotional needs. This year of the pandemic created many unexpected challenges for students and Jessica was right there offering her help and support. Jessica uses her time to its fullest each and every day as she focuses on students and their needs. She drops everything to assist others in their time of need. She works tirelessly beyond her school hours, always prioritizing to ensure she is thorough to the end. She feels deeply and is most compassionate, showing sincere empathy for others with various life struggles. She is trustworthy and holds student and family information confidential always thinking of their best interest. Growing as a professional is a high priority for Jessica and she works to apply the ASCA model to her work. She goes above and beyond to ensure that every student at Kooser is having their social/emotional needs met on an individual level. She responds to all student needs in a timely manner, understanding the importance of her role. She takes every student request seriously and provides support as soon as possible. Jess is there no matter how big or small an issue may seem. She ensures that all students are heard and their feelings are valued. Jess works closely with families to build strong, trusting relationships that extend beyond the classroom walls. Families know they can reach out to Jess any time for anything and that she will respond in a way that is respectful of their privacy. One student shared, “She helps me get through a lot of friendship and family problems. She’s always really nice, kind and sweet.” And another, “Mrs. Wehner has helped me with my friendships and improved them. She really, like, cares for all the kids here. She is really peppy and her voice brings you up and makes you feel better.”
