Chelsee McMeen

Dawes Middle School
Instructional Coach/MTSS-B Liaison
Nominated By: Principal Liz Miller

Chelsee has been a Dawes for 10 years. She worked as a special education paraeducator, then moved into our Behavioral Support room for special education students, and now works as our Behavioral/Instructional coach servicing the whole building. Chelsee works tirelessly to help students reach their full potential. She knows students, she understands behavior, and she pushes staff and students to work together to meet a student where they are at. Chelsee develops relationships with some of our most challenging students and families and bridges that gap that can occur between home and school. Her patience is unwavering and toolbox of strategies is never ending. She pushes us all to see past the behavior and look at what the student is really trying to communicate and how we meet that need in order to see success in the classroom. She inspires us daily to build functional adult systems that meet our students' needs. We so appreciate how much we learn from her and her passion she has for Dawes and its community!
