Ameleah Johnson

Adams Elementary
5th Grade
Nominated By: Principal Jeff Rust

Ameleah is an inspiration to her fifth grade peers and teachers. She demonstrates leadership both in school and outside of school. In class, Ameleah always has a positive attitude and growth mindset. Every day she shows kindness to others by listening and making her classmates feel involved. Ameleah puts forth her best effort in all that she does in school. Outside of school Ameleah is a member of the Girl Scouts of America where she has volunteered with her troop to pick up trash and help beautify the plant beds at the Roper Elementary playground. She also participates in the Adopt-A-Stream program with the City of Lincoln which involves a twice-per-year cleanup of the Saline Wetlands near Capitol Beach. She has also worked with the City of Lincoln to assemble and decorate a rain barrel that was displayed at City Hall to encourage water conservation. Ameleah works hard every year to sell girl scout cookies for the troop, and she uses part of that money for philanthropy to donate to a variety of good causes. For example, she purchased food and put it in the local little pantries and she has purchased items for other food drives and donated it to the Humane Society. In addition to her volunteer work and community service, Ameleah takes several dance classes at Hart Dance Academy and plays YMCA softball in the summer. We are all fortunate to have Ameleah as our peer. Her kindness and positivity serve as an inspiration and make our days a little brighter.
