I work with Mike during lunchtime several times a week. Mike has organized a system for 5th grade students to help clean up after their lunch which they are so excited for. We usually have so many more kids than we need! Their buy in for helping contribute to our school is made possible by Mike's positive interaction with students not only during lunch, but throughout the school day. He knows kids, most of them by name and has built relationships that contribute to a welcoming, safe school environment. Recently, Mike helped with a very difficult situation in a medical emergency where he cared for kids, cleaned a huge mess and stayed calm, positive and helpful throughout the whole situation. He went above and beyond what would be expected! Mike has a hard job and does it without complaint. He truly is a gift to our school and community!
